Dinner At Chow Time -Grill and Buffet

We were down at Panama City doing a project ,and one evening we decided to go for Chinese Buffet dinner. Our friends told there was one newly opened restaurant that have a great buffet.

We went to Chow Time. If one does not know, he will not realized that he is going to an Oriental restaurant . Located at the corner of Highway 77 and 23rd Street, this restaurant has a big sign saying Chow Time -Grill and Buffet. As you entered, you are supposed to get a ticket and wait for your hostess to find you a table. They are so packed.The restaurant is beautifully decorated , light and cozy color. In the middle ,sits about 6-8 Hot and Cold Buffet Bar.

They claimed to have more than 250 items, ranging from Chinese, American,Mexican and
Japanese food.On the Sushi bar is a variety of Sushi's,California Roll, Eel Roll,Tuna and Salmon. But the sushi is tiny, the size of a nickel. They need to roll the sushi bigger.

On the hot bar are popular items like Broccoli Chicken, Beef,Lomein, Rice noodles,sweet and sour chicken, Terriyaki Chicken,Pepper Steak, Mongolian Beef and a lot of different kind of Shrimp, Fried, Grilled and Spicy.

On the Grill items are Grilled Salmon, Pork Chop and Chicken. The best if the Bar b q
Beef Ribs. These are big Beef Ribs with a tangy fruity flavor. The Salmon pieces are
slowly grilled with some spices.

There is also a Salad Bar ,A Fruit Bar and a Dessert Bar . There are a few kinds of cakes there is really good, Chocolate Cake and Angel's Food Cake.Also Banana Pudding and Rice Pudding. Fruits comes with Honey Dew Melon,Cantaloupe, Oranges, Apples , Lychees,Grapes and Water Melons.

Different kinds of soup are Egg Drop Soup, Hot and Sour Soup and Wonton soup.
Service is okay, not perfect. I think because they were so busy.

The price is very reasonable - only $6.99 per person with tax, drinks were extra $1.25. The ticket for 5 of us was $40.00 plus $5.00 tips.
Very satisfying and full lunch. I do recommend you to Chow Time if you do visit Panama City's Beach.

Great Lunch at Little Malaysia

After we send my mother-in-law to the airport for her trip to Malaysia,everyone decided to go to Atlanta China Town , for lunch. We wanted to go for Malaysian Food instead of Korean BBQ.We went to The Little Malaysian Restaurant, at Asian Square on Buford Highway.

We wanted to order Satay Chicken but surprisingly they do not serve Satay.We ordered
3 Roti Chanai, Hainam Chicken Rice, Hokkien Mee, Char Kuey Tew, Choy Sam with Oyster Sauce, Rendang Beef-Beef in Spicy sauce and Fat Put Tew Heong- Cashew chicken served on a Fried Taro Nest.And Also House Lo Mein and for desert we had Ice Kacang.

There were lots of food, we could not finish, had to get a few togo boxes. The bill comes up to $105.That is economy for 8 person.Plus $20.00 tips.

Food was good, and service excellent.I recommend this restaurant if you really like some authentic Malaysian Cuisine.

Dinner at Mandarin House

Thursday's nite, we had dinner at the Mandarin House, Columbus,Georgia.
Mandarin House has been in Columbus for many years at Airport Thruway, but has moved to this new location on Veterans Parkway a few years ago.

They serve both Chinese and Korean Cuisine and a little Japanese and Thai cooking.
We usually ordered the Kapit(the BBQ ribs, Korean style) Thin sliced of Beef Ribs seasoned well and grilled .

Another dish is the Mapo Tofu. This is not on the menu although they have other Tofu dishes. You can ask the Lady boss to cook according to your request.The Mapo tofu is a plate of Tofu with sliced of pork , mushroom, onions and hot chili peppered. A little spicy,sweet and sour.

We were a little disappointed with the ribs this time. It has no taste, not marinated.The Tofu dish is good.

The waitress bought us some sweet cookies and our check, came up to $17.00.Service,Good.

Asam House-Authentic Malaysian & Thai Cuisine

We took a drive to Atlanta,Georgia and had lunch at the Asam House.Instead of having Dim Sum everytime, we wanted to try some Malaysian Cuisine. I was surprised that there have been many more Malaysian and Thai Restaurants in Georgia now.
We went to the Asam House at 5283,Buford Highway N.E.,Doraville,GA 30340,located at the Pinetree Plaza.
Very simple Malaysian design with a lot of Bamboos. Only one customer dining, when we entered. The waitress gave us our menus, and a menu with photos showing their popular dishes, looked very delicious.
The menu showed a combination of Malaysian Chef's Specialiaties and Thai Chef's Specialities. Among the famous appetizer are Roti Canai,Satay Chicken,beef, Archat,
Thai Chicken Wings and Fish Cake,Crispy Fried Calamari, Thai Spring Roll,Curry Puff and Shanghai Dumplings.
On the salad are Spicy Papaya Salad,Savoury Minced Chicken Salad and Glass Noodle Salad. Soup comes with Tom Yum Goong, Chicken Coconut Soup, Wonton Soup and Seafood Tofu Soup.

To my surprise, this restaurant offers so many Malaysian and home cooked Chinese Cusisine that you can't find in other Chinese Restaurant. I wanted to try every dish,
but we can only eat so much. On the Malaysian Chef's Specialties were Beef Rendang,
Ginger Scallion Beef, Bitter Melon With Beef, Curry Chicken,Beef or Shrimp, Aromatic Chicken, Hainanese Chicken,Volcano Port Chop,King Too Spare Rib,Salted vegetables Stewed Pork,Vinegar Pork, Petal Shrimp and Sambal Prawan. I have not tasted these for a very long time- Bak Kut Teh and Hakka Stewed Pork( This is my Hometown Favourite dish)
There are a variety of Curry dishes on the Thai Specials- Spicy Basil,Green Curry,Yellow Curry,Red Curry, Masaman Curry and Panang Curry.
Also Fried noodles and Noodles Soup including Cantones Style Seafood Noodles,Singapore Fried Rice Noodles, Char Kway Teow, Kuala Lumpur Mee Goreng, Hokkien Mee, Yee Mee in Hot Pot. I definatly will try the Curry Cheong Fun next time.
Also some Thai's style noodles.
They have lunch menu from %5.95 to $6.95 on Mondays to Friday fro 11am to 3 pm.
Desert include Mango Stickey Rice, Ais Kacang and Coconut Ice Cream.
We ordered the Satay Chicken,Roti Canai, Hokkien Mee, Nasi Lemak and Yee Mee in Clay Pot.
The Satay is okay, not sweet and not the usual Peanut Spicy sauce we had. We enjoyed the Roti Canai with curry chicken sauce. Only 1 piece of roti. The Hokkien mee is the best, taste good, resemble what we ate back home.The Nasi Lemak is excellent , the rendang has a good taste to it, not so spicy.
We had Ais Kacang for desert. Delicious.

Atlanta-Cafe 101

I had to drive to Atlanta by myself on last Sunday. Non of the people that promised could make it. My husband has to go to Albany to pick up his trailer. My friend Joan
cancelled the day before as she has to go to Montgomery to celebrate her ex-father in law's birthday and Elizabeth who worked at the Circle has to do overtime till noon.So I had to go myself as I promised to meet my son there.
It was a nice sunny day and traffic was smooth. I had no problem driving on that busy I85 North, till my son gave me some instruction to go on Exit 95 instead of Exit 94 which I normally used to go to Buford Highway, through Chamblee.
I was driving through some neighbourhood which I was not familiar for about 45 minutes, till I finally found my destination.
My son met me at Cafe 101 where he wanted to go for lunch. Cafe 101 had been there for a couple of years, but has been changing ownerships often. Before it was the 99 cents Chinese Restaurant. Well, I expect this restaurant to serve some speciality, maybe some good original Chinese Cuisine. But, instead the menu is the same with all those American Chinese Fast Food Restaurant. The usual General Tso's Chicken, Sesame Chicken and Mongolian Beef.
I asked for Fried Ho Fun, but the did not offer that. So we opt for Hot and Spicy Shrimp, Fried Egg Plant with Black Bean Sauce and Claypot Seafood Stew.
Our Hot Tea came but it was just warm. The white rice came in a cute covered pot.
Came the Hot and spicy Shrimp. It was just sweet, neither hot nor spicy. They supposed to fry the shrimp with light cornstarch batter, but just boiled shrimp.
The Eggplant looked good but when I tasted it, again not spicy and very bland, no salt at all.
Lastly came the Claypot Seafood. I expected to savor some good seafood with vegetables and fried tofu in a gravy base, but it was just some Seafood of 2 shrimp, a few scallops and slices of cuttlefish on some soup base with a few nappa and some taro. What ? Taro in soup? Looks like Foochow cuisine. Well , I wanted some Cantonese style cooking from Chinatown's restaurant. Again, very bland, the soup is tasteless.
However, The service was excellent . We had a few waitresses kept checking on us. I guess they were not too busy. We could not finish all the food,so I had to take the shrimp and Eggplant in a togo box.Rating for Food=Poor, Service=Good, Price-Medium.

After that went to Hong Kong Bakery to get some Buns and Egg Custard Pies.And to Ming's to get some Soy Chicken and Roast Pork.
And went to Old China Town area to get a hair cut.Left Atlanta about 4.15pm and drove back to Columbus at 5.45 pm.
I still had to go to work but I went in at 7.00 pm .

Lunch At Taj Mahal Restaurant

Instead of having Korean Food for Lunch at the Mandarin house with my new friend, Elizabeth, we decided to go for Indian food at the Taj Mahal.

Taj Mahal is the one and only Indian restaurant serving real Indian Cuisine in Columbus ,Georgia.
It is locate at 2009,Auburn Avenue,Columbus,Ga 31906. Tel: 706-568-9992.
Go on Macon Road, pass K-Mart, and turn right on Auburn Avenue. Located on a plaza, across from Freds.
Taj Mahal is closed on Monday, open everyday for Lunch from 11.30 am till 2.30pm and Dinner 5.30 pm till 10.00 pm.
They serve a Lunch Buffet with a small buffet line consist of White Rice,Briyani Rice,Chicken Masala,Aloo Mattar,Curry Beef, Chutney,Salad and some kind of Sweet Cheese Ball with Syrup.Also Chana Masala ,and Onion Bhajia.
And the waiter brings you a big pitcher of water and some Chappati Bread.

As you entered you will be wondering whether this is An Indian Restaurant or Chinese Restaurant.Despite the color combination of Indian Flavor, this restaurant is decorated with Chinese Decor, Chinese Ceiling , Chinese Lanterns and Painting. You see the story behind this, is this was a Chinese Restaurant before. The Famous China Star which was famous in Columbus many years ago. The new Indian Restaurant Owner decided to keep it as it was.

The food is not bad. I loved the Curry,Briyani Rice and the Roti but one bite on the Chutney turned Sour. It was so Sour,Spicy and Salty. I guess you have to mixed just a little with your rice or roti to eat it. Another thing is the CheesseBall, it was way too sweet. My sugar just ran high with one bite.

I understood that lunch buffet was $6.99 per person, but we did not ask how our che ck came up to $23.12 for 2 person. Something is missing here.

Beside Buffet, Taj Mahal also serve a variety of Indian Cuisine.

Briyani- Basmati rice cooked with your choice of shrimp, chicken or lamb.
Chappati- Thin Whole Wheat Rosted Bread.
Chutney- Pickle Vegetables, Sour, Salty and Spicy
Chicken Masala-Boneles Chicken cooked in Special Masala Sauce.
Chicken Kurma- Boneless Chicken with Yogurt,Nuts And Spices
Onion Bhajia- Onion Fritters served with Chutney
Vegetable Samosa- Crispy Turnover,deliciously filled with Mildly spiced ootatoes and green peas.

If you loved Spicy food, I recommend the Taj Mahal.

A Happy Birthday !!

Today is my birthday. I turned 48 today, well on my way to middle age now.
Half a century gone.
Not a big celebration but did went out to have lunch at the Golden Corral Super Buffet on Sunday with my friends and family.Ate too much.
Today I had breakfast at Dennys with my husband.
Just another peaceful and happy day and I am thankful for my health and family. For my loving husband and my two sons. Could not have asked for more. Be Content.

Dinner at The Thai House

Arriving Las Vegas late, about 1030 pm Pacific time, but is actually 3 hours ahead, Eastern Time. Having been in the plane for 4 hours and nowadays they do not serve meals , only beverage and a little snack of cookies and tiny pretzel, we have been very hungry and decided to dine in at The Thai House, on Sahara Drive.
Located on a small shopping strip, this tiny restaurant opens till 4 am.The waiter is very attentive and friendly.
We ordered some Spring rolls, and A bowl of Tom Yam Noodles Soup. The spring rolls comes in 4 pieces served with sweet chilli dipping sauce. Very Crispy, although very hot.
The Noodles Soup comes in Mild as we asked for, with meat balls and big shrimp and some bean sprout. The soup is spicy and sour. After we finished our dinner, we walked back to the Hotel which is near by, sat for a while to unpack and went to bed , ready for tomorrow's adventure.
As we passed by the gambling hall at the lobby of the hotel, they were up packed up with all kinds of people gambling, poker, paikau, roulette, blackjack and off course the many slots machines.

Lunch At Country's Barbecue

We had lunch at Country's Barbecue on Saturday. Country's Barbecue is famous for their Barbecue Ribs and Chicken . There are 3 locations, one on 1329 Broadway, one on 6298 Veterans Parkway, and one on 3137 ,Mercury Drive, Columbus ,Georgia.
We went to the Mercury Drive's location. Located on the back, this restaurant is always busy.
The building looks old, and inside is really antique looking, with a lot of antique decorations like those Coco Cola's Signs. They were crowded and has about 6 waitresses.
We ordered Sweet tea with lemon. My husband ordered the BBQ Ribs Platter and I had the BBQ Chicken Platter. The sweet tea comes in a pickle jar glass. The ribs plate comes with 2 sides, a french toast and some pickles and onions.The sides are baked sweet potatoes and cream corn.
My BBQ chicken comes with a half chicken with 2 sides, black eye peas and cream corn with a french toast.I liked my chicken, a little dry, but the ribs were a little tough.
The ticket came up to $21.08. We could not finish all, and had a togo plate to take home.

Saturday's Dinner at TGIF

TGIF on Saturday. I asked for a night off from work, since it was after the 4th and business is not that busy. We decided to eat out . Have planned to go to Cheddars but when we arrived , the line was so long. Then, about to go to Red Lobster but we could not find a parking space. I could not believe all these restaurants were so busy. Driving around for 10 minutes, TGIF was not too busy , so we that's where we ended.
Sitting at the corner of Whitesville and Whitlessey Road, this medium size restaurant is very cozy and nice. As you entered, there are a few Host and Hostesses, greeted you and one led you to your table. Music over the speaker, they were quite full. They had a smoking and not smoking rooms. We opted for not smoking.
Simple country decoration with retro design. A long wooden kayak stayed on top of the beams.
Our waitress was friendly, took our drink order. I wanted Sweet Tea and my husband asked for a Mudslide. She bought our drinks but the tea was not sweet at all and the Mudslide tasted too bitter for me. A little too much alcohol.

Then we ordered our dinner. I ordered the Bruschette Pasta with Grilled Chicken,
and my husband asked for the Jack Daniel Trio.
Dinner came about 10 minutes. My Pasta comes in a big round plate. Pasta cooked with
tomatoes and onions, tossed with tomatoes sauce. Chicken perfectly grilled and laid on top of pasta.
The Jack Daniel Trio comes with 1/2 a stack of baby ribs, barbecued and braised with Jack Daniel sauce, some Jumbo Fried Shrimp and Sesame Braised Chicken on top of a small bed of Salad. Served on a Hugh Plate.The ribs has a very good tangy taste, Shrimp perfectly fried and the sesame chicken is crispy, but a little to the sweet side.
But we did finished our dinner. The ticket came up to $35.05 .Plus $5.00 tips.
That Mudslide cost $6.95.We did enjoyed our dinner.

TGIF has a menu that is reasonable and gives you a variety . Asian,Mexican ,Italian and American cuisine.

Hainam Chicken Rice for Sunday's Lunch

My husband comes home from out of town work on the Weekends. Instead of eating out, I decided to cook him his favourite Hainam Chicken Rice. This dish is very famous back home in Malaysia. You can find a lot of stores and restaurants selling Hainam Chicken Rice, especially in K.L and Ipoh. In fact I have a cousin who runs a small store at Chow Yong Restaurant , at SS 2, Petaling Jaya. They had the store for more than 25 years, and I think they had the best Hainam Chicken Rice.
This dish is very easy to make. First I defrost the chicken, (In U.S.A you can only buy frozen chicken) ,I used two chicken legs and one breast. Then I boil a big pot of water , seasoned with salt and pepper. When the water boils, drop the chicken in , usually I use the knife to cut a few slits of the chicken, cook faster. Cover the pot and let it boil for 15 minutes, turn down the heat. Cover for another 5 minutes, check chicken with a chopstick, poke and make sure no flesh blood oozes out. Then you pick the chicken out ,run with cold water. This make the meat tender, not soft.
Then I wash some rice, cooked on the pot with a little butter, and season with salt and sesame oil. Then use the chicken broth earlier, put a few scoops ,cover the rice, when star boiling, turn heat down. When all water evaporates, turn to very low and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
Cut chicken into bites size, sprinkle wit green onion, topped with a little soy sauce and sesame oil. And of course serve with hot chili oil.Use the leftover broth, to make some soup,season, add some green onions/chives on it,put a dash of seseme oil.
Wow, very Delicious, come join me for lunch.Very delicious home cooked dish in a foreign land. Next year I will be going back to taste some real delicious Hainamese Chicken Rice.

T-Bone Steak for Dinner

Last Thursday, some guys knock on my door, and they were from A Meat Wholesaler from Albany, selling boxes of Steak ,Chicken and Shrimp. The price per box of six was like $360.00 but who is going to pay so much.
He offered me a box of consisting of 2 small boxes of 6 T.bone Steaks each, two ribeye, and two New York Strips. You can Mix and match or exchange for chicken or shrimp. Of course being Thrifty , I have to Bargain.I offered him $100.00 for the five boxes of Steak, 2 T-bones, 1 New York Strip,1 Ribeye and 1 case of Shrimp. But, he will not take the offer, and we agreed on $140.00, that comes up to about $4.00 per steak. Not bad.
So we decided to cook at home the whole week instead of eating out. We cooked some T-bones and it was delicious, The meat is very tender and juicy. Just defrost the steak, seasoned it with salt and peppered and some McCormick Original SeasonAll Salt .Grill for 10-15 minutes , depend on how you want it, rare, medium or well done.
Served with some potato salad ,mashed potatoes, toasted bread or steam vegetables, topped with A1 Sauce or Bar-b-que sauce.
You have a very delicious and economy steak dinner, why spend $20 to eat out at high-end restaurant.

Little Malaysia-Atlanta,Georgia

Saturday, my son was having a party at his new apartment and my job was to cook for him. We left Columbus around 10 am, pickup a few friends and reached his place at Liberty Park Townhouse at about 12.noon.
He had already purchased on the groceries and I supposed to cook him some Sesame Chicken,Broccoli Beef, Curry Chicken, Rice,and Pop corn Shrimp and he fired up the grill to grill some chicken wings and drumsticks.
Most of the guest came about 2.30 pm .My Sister in law and niece came and they invited one Malaysian family. I finished cooking about 3.30 and we started eating and chatting and having a really good time, talking about old days in Malaysia and cooking recipes.While most of the kids, the college kids were playing video games and some well swimming in the crowded tiny pool.
More people came later, and the food almost gone.
We left about 7 and decided to go to China Town on Buford Highway to pick up some groceries. Since some of us still hungry, we decided to go eat at The Little Malaysia
restaurant, located at the corner of Asian Square. The sign is so small ,you hardly see it.
But this restaurant cooked good authentic Malaysian food from Hainam Chicken Rice,
Hokkien Mee, Nasi Lemak, Curry Chicken and Rendang.Also find some Roti Chanai and Ice Kacang. Cannot believe , you still can enjoy such delicious Malaysian food even though we are so far away from home.
We ordered the Hainanese Chicken Rice, - steamed fresh chicken, cut up, with green onions and ginger and soy sauce and served with real Hainanese yellow rice, so fragrant. Also ordered the Beef Rendang, tendered pieces of beef stewed in curry and spices- very delicious, and not too spicy. We also had some roti chanai dipped in curry sauce. But I like to put sugar on mine.
At the end, we had Ice Kacang- like a snowcone on a bowl, filled with red bean, peanuts, agar-agar, lychee and top with red syrup and evaporated milk- this really brings back memories of the young days in Malaysian, where we go to the market to enjoy some real good ice kacang,.
Very satisfied dinner. Do visit The Little Malaysia next time you visit Atlanta. I really recommend it, if you love Malaysian food.

Birthday Party at Golden Corral

Monday was Memorial Day , a holiday and my husband birthday was on Tuesday. Since it was a holiday we decided to celebrate on Monday. Our family and a few invited Family friends had lunch at the Golden Corral.
Golden Corral, is a large family restaurant serving an American Supper Buffet. It has been opened for more that 15 years ,offering a varieties of Hot Food and Cold Salad Bar,and Dessert Bar. There are more than 150 items ranging from Rotisserie Chicken,Hot Wings, Meat Loaf, Fresh Grilled Pork Chop, Mashed Potatoes, Collard Greens,Fried Catfish,Soup and different vegetables. A great salad bar, you can mix and match your own. Also has some Mexican items, like Tacos. On the dessert bar, there are a varieties of Home make cakes, Double Chocolate Cakes, Strawberry Shortcakes, Cheesecake and Brownies. I love their Roll, very fresh.
Lunch per person is $7.39 plus $2.19 for Soft drinks. Since I had a coupon we only pay $4.99 per person , but you have to buy a drink each. Still we save about $15 for 7 adults and 2 children.
We really enjoyed our Lunch as we dine and chat. At the end , a group of waitress came over to sing their birthday rhyming song to my husband.
It was a perfect party.
If you come to Columbus, you need to eat at the Golden Corral, located at Manchester Expressway, across from McDonald.You will enjoy it. Try look out for Mail In Coupons, by American Town Marketing. You will save a lot, with everything going up nowadays.

Lunch At Hong Kong Buffett

Amanda Carroll, my best friend Joan's little girl is finally graduating from High School this week, so On Sunday I decided to take them out for Lunch at the Hong Kong Supper Buffet Restaurant. Located on Bradley Park near Target,this restaurant is spacious.They have been opened for more than 3 years.
Walking in, is a big water fountain, with some gold fishes.
There is a party room for big group. And five or six buffet tables serving more that 200 items ranging from Chinese, Japanese , American and Mexican Cuisines.
Some of the favourites include, Sesame Chicken, Terriyaki Chicken, Sushi, Pizza,Soup ,Salad and Desserts.
Lunch for only $5.95 plus tax per person, this is a good deal and we had a coupon for 75 cents discount per person. We really enjoyed our lunch except service is not satisfied. We had waitresses that hardly speak English and a Gloomy face.
But, the food is fresh and delicious.
Our tickets came up to $36.00 with the discount(5 Persons)plus $7.00 Tips.

We went to the Tako Japanese and Chinese Restaurant at Double Churches for lunch on Sunday. With 2 of our friends, Kun and Flora Yuan. This is Flora First Mother'S Day celebration. She just had her 1st child about two weeks ago. Also her birthday is on Monday. We suppose to have more friends joining us, but they did not show up.
This restaurant is not so busy today, as most people prefer to go to some fancy seat down or Buffet restaurant.
We asked the Owner and Chef to fix us something special instead ordering from the menu.
He fixed a big plate of different kind of Sushi and Shashimi, Salt and Peppered Prawn,Sweet and Sour Fish/Flounder,and Fried Sweet Potatoes and we had Snickers German Chocolate Cake for dessert.And Japanese Hot Tea.

Happy Mother's Day

I had a Great Mother's Day. Actually, started on Friday. We drove to Atlanta to have lunch with my son. Went to the Happy Valley Chinese Restaurant.,on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, Exit 99. Located at the back of some stores, you can hardly see it. But we managed to find it. Moved from Buford Highway's location , a few months ago. This restaurant does not have an Oriental decor, but more of the Renaisance/Roman Decor.

As you entered,there are more than ten fish tanks with live fishes,crabs and lobsters . Not to busy for lunch time. Only a few tables, I think they are packed on Saturday and Sundays.

We ordered some Dim Sums- Siu Mai,Sticky rice, Rice Noodles,Har Kow and Char Siu Pau(Roast Pork Bun) They were very fresh and delicious, compared to other Dim Sum's restaurants.We also ordered Seafood Pan Fried Noodles. Very Good.

The ticket came up to $55.oo for 3 of us, and we have some leftovers to take home.
Then went to Asian Square to pick up some groceries, Hong Kong Bakery for some delis, and Ming'S Bistro for some Soy Sauce Roast Chicken,Roast Duck and Roast Pork.

Got to get out of the traffic before it is too heavy. Left at 3.oo pm, a little heavy traffic on downtown Atlanta.Then drove all the way back to Columbus, arrived at 5.15 and went to work.

Great Sushi Lunch at Tako

Of all the Japanese Sushi restaurants, in Columbus, Georgia, I loved the Sushi at Tako Japanese and Chinese Restaurant. Located off the city, on a little shopping center on the end of Double Churches/Whitesville road, this small restaurant is very cozy and clean. Owned by two young brothers, from New York.

Their sushi is very fresh. We ordered a plate of eel and fried shrimp sushi.Beautiful created and looked very delicious. The rice is not too hard, and the fish is fresh.

We also ordered the Bento Box with Teriyaki Chicken. Served with Miso Soup , and came in a beautiful Oriental box filled with 2 Fried Tempura Shrimp, 2 Sweet potatoes, 2 Shui mai,White rice, Salad,Teriyaki Chicken and 6 pieces of California Roll. Very big portion and tasted well.

We usually can never finish the big portion , so had a togo box to take the leftover home.

They said they have good business , especially at night. And they deliver too.

Closed on Tuesday.

Tupelo to Atlanta via I20 East

We did not fill up the gas tank, as the Pump did accept my Husband's Debit Card. Having half a tank of gas left, we decided to drive to Birmingham ,Alabama to get gas.Bright sunshine with cool breeze we strolled along Highway 78 East. This is a new highway, 78 East corner(The Future I 22)There were not much traffic and it cut our trip to Birmingham for about 30 minutes. Not much excitement but saw a few States Troopers on the side of the Highway waiting for Speeders. And we saw a 18 Wheeler flipped on the side, and people carrying away crates of Oranges.
Reached Birmingham and the lite for empty gas was on, and we stopped by to fill up the tank. Not too hungry, we continued our journey to Atlanta via I20 East,passing town like Talladega and Douglasville. Almost to Atlanta, the traffic were heavy.
Reached Atlanta at 4pm, went to Old China Town to meet some friends, Ate some Ribs Noodles and a bowl of Wonton soup. For less than $10.00 we got a big bowl of Noodles and a bowl of more than 25 wontons. Delicious.
Then went to Din How Supermarket to get some Chinese groceries, steamed buns, vegetables and Soy Drinks.Also bought some delicious Roast pork bun, red bean bun and some egg tart. We love the Hong Kong Deli, they have the best buns.
Almost 6 pm we drove to Chamblee, to meet our son(study in Georgia Tech) for Dinner.
He took us to the Vietnamese Cafe. A small little restaurant with a lot of bamboos decoration, and large print of the food served,it is very cozy. They were so busy.
We waited a little while, the waitress served us drinks and took a while to get our order. We ordered some Shrimp Roll, Chicken Sate and my son ordered the Vermicelli bow.Also some Shrimp and Sweet Potatoes fries.Food came fast, Chicken sate is okay. The Shrimp has some big shrimp in it,but the Vermicelli was loaded with Chicken and Shrimp,lettuce and parsley.We loved the Shrimp and Sweet Potatoes fries. The fries were crunchy with a sweet taste. Also, had Bubble Tea.
Our ticket came up to $26.10 plus $5.00 tip.
After dinner, drove another 2 hours back to Columbus,Georgia. It was a long and tired weekend, but enjoyable.

Tupelo,Mississippi Nite

After a few hours of rest, we were hungry so we decided to go look for a nice restaurant to eat. Driving up to North Gloster Street, brought us to The Mall at Barnes Crossing. There are over 100 speciality shoppes here and is one of the largest shopping venues in Northeast Mississippi. From Target, Dillard's,JC Penney to Kohl's,Barnes and Nobles etc.,
Along this venue are more than 100 nice places to it. You'll find almost every kind of cuisine from All American casual to the finest of dining. Apple bees, Arby's,Burger King, Bumpers Drive In, Red Lobster,Ruby Tuesday, Sun-Kai Chinese,Vanelli's, Cafe 212, Ryan's Buffet,Cajun Cafe,Cancun Mexican,Magic Wok and Olive Garden.
Almost 8.30pm but The New China Buffet V still had a lot of cars parked outside.So we
decided to try Chinese Buffet. A nice size restaurant, looked like a former Golden Coral restaurant. Entering the main entrance is a water fountain where a lot coins were thrown in, guess people making wishes.
The waiter led us to our table , and waitress brought our drinks, We helped our selves . The menu said they have over 250 items. Range from Sushi, Salad, Soups,Desert to Chinese stir fried to Mexican Tacos and wraps, also bread , fruits and deserts.Saturday and Sunday is Seafood Buffet so they have all kinds of shrimp, steam, cocktail, fried, stir fried and Crab Legs. But every time they only brought a small tray out and diners are waiting in line to get them. The lady on the next table to us took at least 3 full plates of crab leg. I wondered how the restaurant made a profit with diner like that.
I took some soup, some stir fried and some shrimp,one sushi plate then some hot and sour soup , two pieces of desert and some fruits. I was so full. My husband tried to catch him some crab legs but just managed to get a few tiny pieces.
The price is $10.49 per person, plus $1.50 for drink, our ticket came out to $23.50 plus $5.00 tips. The food was tasty but service not too good. Guess they were a little busy,because they were packed.
After dinner, we went to the super Walmart and bought some Nick-knacks and returned to our Sleep Inn Motel.
